Here is a delightful place to spend a few hours..... and not only
because the cappuccino is good...
A five minute walk from the town centre, in what used to be one
of the old rickety houses familiar around here, is a little haven
offering a large menu selection from early morning until night.
The terrace looks onto the rocks at the shore and out over the
sea to the 'crocodile' dipping his nose into the water past Anidri
Beach. It's a great spot to take in the comings and goings of
the local ferries and small fishing boats, appreciate the bird
life (kingfishers, heron, cormorants and eygrets can all be seen
at various times), or to watch the light change at sunset on the
mountains while cooling down with a beer or a cocktail.............

The
Water's Edge Cafe
The little cafe with the big heart

|
|
During the day if the
glare of the sun dancing on the water becomes too much there
are tables around the terrace in the garden.
And morning until night there is always a risk of friendly banter
with host Haris.
|
In a sense, Haris has
followed in the footsteps of his father, Giorgos Arkalakis.
"Little Giorgos", as he was then known to distinguish
him from several other café owners named Giorgos, owned
the first café on the eastern beach of Paleochora and
is remembered very fondly by many old time visitors. |
